Woman Hit by Train in Westwood

The woman was hospitalized after being hit by a Spring Valley-bound train Wednesday afternoon.

One woman was in the hospital after being hit by a train at the Westwood Train Station Wednesday afternoon, NJ Transit spokeswoman Courtney Carroll confirmed.

Train 1621 was headed from Hoboken to Spring Valley when the woman made contact with it "for reasons unknown," Carroll said. The woman was transported to an area hospital, but details of her condition were not immediately available.

There were no other injuries among the train crew or the 10 passengers on board at the time of the incident.

Train service was temporarily suspended on the Pascack Valley line between Emerson and Spring Valley. They have since resumed the normal schedule.

NJ Transit Police are continuing to investigate the incident, Carroll said.
