Lynda Marks Kraar - Vocals/guitar/bass/mandolin/Renaissance Lute

Lynda got her start at the age of 16 at Mariposa Folk Festival in Toronto, performing with David Amram, and mentored by the late guitarist Steve Goodman. By the time she was 21 she was fronting Lynda Marks and the Marksmen, one of Toronto’s popular club bands, then moving on to front Culture Shock, a popular reggae band comprised of members of reggae band Truths and Rights, and several R&B bands in Toronto. Lynda came to the USA in 1985 and formed Blue Moo – “a musical feedbag.” Steadily involved in music projects since then, today Lynda is part of Musicians on Call, performing at bedside at hospitals in New York City. She has been instructing guitar and bass for 30 years. She sang alto in Yiddish in the Jewish People’s Philharmonic Chorus for six years. She has also performed on Renaissance lute in the New York Continuo Collective. Most recently, she appeared with world-class guitarist Tommy Emmanuel at the BergenPAC. Lynda is president of Lynda Kraar & Associates, a consulting firm in the non-profit sector, which she founded with her late husband, Marty Kraar.
