Hillsdale Police Hire New Officer

Ryan Norton starts as the borough's newest police officer Monday.

The Hillsdale Police Department recently hired Ryan Norton as its newest officer, according to Police Chief Chip Stalter. Norton starts Monday. Norton, a graduate of William Paterson University, comes to Hillsdale from Montclair State University's campus police force, and was previously a Passaic County Sheriff's investigator. Stalter told Patch that Norton stood out because he has a record of productivity and also wants to be involved with schools and the community. "He seemed to be the best fit for our department," Stalter said. Norton will be filing the space left by Jeff Angermeyer, who left the borough for a job with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
