7-Eleven Plan Continues, School Board Presidents Picked This Week

A hearing for a plan to build a strip mall is scheduled to continue during the Westwood Zoning Board's first meeting of the year this week. Developer Nicholas Aynilian has proposed to replace the former Chevrolet of Westwood on Kinderkamack Road with a 8,051-square-foot, five-unit strip mall. The applicant has requested a use variance for a 7-Eleven as part of the plan. Norman Dorf, the property's owner, previously testified that there has been virtually no other interest to develop the site and he did not believe another car dealer or large appliance store — some of the permitted uses for the site — could ever be successful there.
