Zoeller on Vacation, Denies 'Forced Leave' Rumors

Rumors have circulated that Westwood Regional Schools Superintendent Geoffrey Zoeller was forced to go on leave until the next Board of Education meeting.

Westwood Regional Schools Superintendent Geoffrey Zoeller confirmed that he was "taking some vacation time," but told Patch via email that it was untrue he had been forced to take a leave by the Board of Education. Rumors circulated this week that Zoeller had been forced to take a leave of absence pending a review by the Board of Education after he took home a district-owned generator and truck for Hurricane Sandy, and left them there while away on vacation in Florida Board President Carol Mountain did not return calls for comment this week. She previously told Patch she could not discuss any personnel issues. Should Superintendent Have Used District Generator at Home?

What do you think about Westwood Regional Superintendent Geoffrey Zoeller's actions?

Westwood Regional Schools Superintendent drove a district truck and used a district-owned generator to power his home after Hurricane Sandy, according to a report on NorthJersey.com. The truck and generator were both back in the district Monday, but some Westwood and Washington Township residents were upset that Zoeller was using the equipment when several schools and many area residents were without power. Zoeller left the equipment at his home while away on vacation, according to the report. Board of Education President Carol Mountain told Patch Monday that she could not speak about the matter because it is a personnel issue, but said it may come up at the board's meeting Thursday at Westwood Regional High School.
