With more than 15 patrol officers, the Township of Washington Police Department watches over the township around theMore clock. In addition to the typical duties of the police, several members of the township's department participate in D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) in township schools. Officers also participate in other community activities, like safety instruction, crime, drunk driving and robbery prevention, Stranger Danger programs for kids and Neighborhood Watch. The department is also involved in the Municipal Alliance Committee, dedicated to decreasing drug and alcohol abuse.

The Township Of Washington Municipal Complex houses government offices, municipal court, a senior center andMore council meetings. The front of the building, which faces Pascack Road, has a memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives during wars and the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Open daily, residents can visit the municipal complex to get public information from the town clerk, pay parking tickets or visit the police department.
