Members try to raise money for different causes in that vein. They support units going to Iraq and donate to the Veterans Memorial Home in Paramus. Fund-raisers include everything from concerts to selling poppies in May before Memorial Day. Members also conduct services in Westwood for Memorial Day and Veterans Day and work with the Westwood Veterans Council and Heritage Society. Members and their guests are welcome at the post facility. Members of the public can rent the hall for their own purposes. Call the Legion for more information.
Veterans' Memorial Park gives residents the opportunity to reflect on and honor those who served their country in a…More time of war, as well as have a space to gather for borough-wide events. There are several memorials in the park, including those honoring soldiers from World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan. There is also a section dedicated to residents who died during the terrorist attacks of 9/11. In addition to the points of solemn reflection, the facility has a pavilion for concerts and benches to sit on.
Veterans Day and Memorial Day events are held at the park, along with an annual 9/11 memorial. The summer concert series and community band concert series are held on-site, along with flea markets, craft fairs, antique shows and an annual art show for locals. The park serves as the site for the Home for the Holidays parade and for Easter egg events.
