The Westwood Police Department is made up of 26 officers, including the chief, plus one special officer who typically works the downtown neighborhood on weekends. The department's mission is to keep the community safe, carry out duties fairly, respond to quality of life issues and act in a courteous and professional manner. In addition to performing their required duties, police officers also get involved in community policing activities, which include speaking to groups like senior citizens about identity theft or to children about safety issues.
