Best food and prices in the area. This joint rocks. Everything is a favorite for me! They have this Poppers Burger with jalapeno poppers; UGH SOOOO GOOD!

Let me start off by saying this is my very first patch review, I always use google to find a restaurant, but I never wrote a review. The Dog House food makes you want to write a review .I am new to the neighborhood and I kept passing the front of this place. After a few weeks (and checking it out on here) I finally went inside. I fell absolutely in love with it here.
I can only describe it as neighborhood/sports bar with a small dining area (6-10tables). BUT BOY OH BOY is it amazing! Nothing is wrapped up in overpriced trendy gimmicks, its just a comfortable place with quality food & service!
The bacon cheese burgers are outrageous! I want this place on Diners Drive Ins and Dives ASAP! (if it isn’t already)
Give this place a try. Forget chain restaurants, this is where to go!
Recommendation: Groups 6 or more should probably call ahead I seen this place fill up fast! Great place to hang also, they have a pool table, dart board & last week I even saw a few guys playing chess?!
DOGHOUSE YOU NAILED IT! Cya later in the week. - Derek
We've lived in town for 15 years and only came here once, back when we first moved in and it was still the Harmony. It was too hot to grill on Memorial Day, so we decided to duck into the Dog House for a burger, and are we glad we did. Others have talked about the value for the money, but this is a very, very good burger -- good beefy taste, grilled perfectly to order, just a bit of char on the outside. Epic fries, served as literally a mountain. The owner is very nice (which I'm sure is easier for her at times when the place isn't busy, such as tonight), gave us containers to take home leftovers, which we did because the fries are just too good to leave.
As for the beer selection, well, they had Sam Adams Summer Ale ice cold in bottles, and on a hot summer day what more do you need but a good cold beer and a good, hearty burger?
The place is clearly a biker-type bar, its main business is the bar. There are a few tables that probably fill up quickly on busy nights. This is not a place with pretentions, just good beer and great bar food. Guy Fieri from Food Network would love this place.
I don't know how the owner makes a living serving up food this good in this quantity, but long may she reign. We will definitely be back.
Perhaps my wife and I came on a bad night. There as a birthday party gong on and it was very busy. We felt like fish out of water. Don't come here expecting good beer (I'm a beer snob). I asked the bartender if they had bottles, since the tap selection was sub-par. My response was, "Have you ever been in a bar before?" Stay classy Dog House.
Food was mediocre. Sliders were forgettable and sweet potato fries were undercooked. Portions were huge for the money though.
This place is seemingly unknown so the only people that frequent are the locals. I noticed this when the bartender (no joke), knew everyone’s name and drink. Then asked about their families and what not. My question is who the heck has been hiding this place, why did I never hear of it until now? I have driven by a thousand times and never thought to stop in. That sure was my mistake! Must eats: The CHEESESTEAK! It was awesome. The portion sizes are out of control and the prices are great. How could I have missed a place like this in Bergen county for so long? (They should advertise more, then maybe I would have known )The bar had a lively crowd. Everyone was eating a drinking, I noticed lots of wings and sliders going out (maybe they are the favorites). Definitely a GREAT place for happy hour! Inexpensive prices and the staff is friendly and attentive. The lighting was very dim which made it hard to read the menu. Also I noticed no one has mentioned the lady’s room? It was not only clean but filled with complimentary products (hairspray, body spray, lotion etc.…) Boy would that come in handy on a date…haha. Nice touch dog house!!! It is a fantastic place. I cannot recommend it enough!!! Needless to say by the time I left I realized why everyone was a regular. Count me in, I cannot wait to head back.
Possible improvements: Larger wine selection?
WOW, Soooo worth it ...... Next time I go I'll be prepared for the crowd (and starve myself all day so I can eat more)... They had a small dining room that was full, and limited waitress service so we just took a seat at the bar, and enjoyed it just the same if not more....
I see no one has mentioned the Philly Cheesesteak? That was the first Item that jumped out at us....
Ok ready brace yourself for this. Our order was, a Bud pint and a Merlot; an 8pc Teriyaki sesame wing app, I had the Crunch burger and my wife had the Cheesesteak.
Now I will start this part of the review by repeating previous reviewers and saying "HOLY COW, Those are some HUGE portions" I found the food to be the best (for quality, flavor and value) we have had in the area, when comparing it to similar places and food venues. The Barmaid was friendly and we stayed for a drink after dinner. I saw they had a pool table and some video games...maybe next time?
The music seemed to be provided by a jukebox, therefor some of the songs where...How do I put this...Not our taste...
The only down side we could see was if you are adverse to a bar environment than this may not be the place for you. Fortunately we are not and will be back soon.
Plain and Simple, this is a Killer Bar with KILLER food!
BEST KEPT SECRET in the area!
The Salads and Bacon Cheese Burgers are ridiculously tasty.
What to do:
- Order a Bacon Cheeseburger or Jumbo Salad!
- Call ahead if you're grabbing it to go. This place turns busy at the drop of a hat sometimes, and it appears to me that this couple runs the whole place all the time (nice to see nowadays).
- When Ordering read the full menu it is very descriptive, I am partial to the Buffalo Salad.
What not to do:
- Never, ever walk into this place with a shirt you care about if you plan on diving into some of these huge portioned meals.... A fork and a knife are always needed.
- Don't ask for extra of anything until you've eaten here at least once, it seems that most items come with mass amounts of everything you'll need/want .
Neighborhood type bar, great place to hang out and grab a drink; but the secret is in the food..... . Every time I have a chance to stop in I have a phenomenal time.
Yum, yum, yummy! As others have mentioned, the Burgers are to die for. Fantastic local bar. I will be a regular at this place for sure. The staff was overly friendly and I even had the opportunity to meet the owner. Thanks again.
I tried out The Dog House for dinner last night. What a great little place. It was very much your regular neighborhood bar but it had a great menu. I stayed for a few drinks and had a killer burger! ((highly recommended)) Inexpensive food with huge portions, you never find anywhere like this, cold beer and friendly staff. I am a fan and will definitely be back soon .
Let me start this review by saying.... I just had the Best Burger of my life! I love food, and have visited many places, recently being disappointed by many. I was driving past this local place today (The Dog House) when I noticed a Banner stating their kitchen was open. I thought "Why not." ...Right?
I walk in and hover by the door for a minute while glancing at the menu. To my surprise, they had a lot to offer. So I grabbed a seat by the bar (Small Dining Area, and Crowed Bar)
My order consists of a Drink and an "ALL AMERICAN" Burger, not ten minutes later this GIANT burger comes out. (See Photo) I couldn't believe my eyes, and the flavor.... Unbelievable! I snapped a picture text my buddy and dug in!
After a few cocktails, the burger and a tip it was still UNDER $20. Can't Beat It!
This one goes down in history. Thank you Dog House, I am stuffed.
CONS: Small Dining Area, Limited Waitress Service, Crowded.
PROS: Cold Beer, Phenomenal Burgers, Big Menu, Good Service, Inexpensive, Plenty of Parking, Video Games, Billiards, Local Family Owned.
BURGER: $7.95 DRINK: $2.00 ... FINDING A GREAT LOCAL PLACE: PRICELESS
Needless to say...I WILL BE BACK ! ! !

Ok so, I can agree with all of the previous reviewers when I say; this place blows me away. Yes, the burges are to die for and the cheesesteak can feed me for a week... all of this has been said before but, no one is mentioning the SALADS! I love a good salad and this place surpasses any expectation! Seriously people, it may sound funny for a place like this but it is true. Love, love, love this place, it is great to have a joint like this in the area! Local vibe & unique.
