I had a bad experience at the bakery today, not the kind of thing you want to happen on your birthday.
My husband.and I asked the worker, an older lady, how much a cake cost, and said was $15.Then she rang it up it was over $20. The extra five bucks was actually kind of a big deal for us. The worker,then falsely claimed she said it was "about" 15 dollars but she DID NOT use the word about. Saying something that was not true and not apologizing for the mix up was really unpleasant and unprofessional. There is no excuse to be open for business without a price list. Anyway, $15 is not even a good estimate for a cake that costs more than $20 . The worker claimed she could only find out the real price after she rang it up, what is this a pharmacy that needs to charge you medical insurance for a co-pay?It is also a lousy business practice to label an item one price or quote an item one price and then not honor it. I felt hurt and embarrassed by the conduct of the worker. I felt her behavior was unprofessional, but maybe the management does not give workers the latitude to fix their mistakes.

The cake was very attractive and was of decent quality, but not good enough to make me trust them again.

It is a big shame because I prefer to buy from small businesses, this bakery chose to discourage someone who might have been a repeat customer. Maybe they only want people who are really rich and distracted and don't notice that their bill ends up being bigger than estimated.
