Washington Avenue Railroad Crossing Closing Thursday

The next phase of Westwood's Broadway intersection improvement project started this week, closing the railroad crossing at Washington Avenue.

Borough officials are advising drivers to plan alternate routes during the work.

Hillsdale Author Writes 32,000-Page Book on JFK

Walt Brown was a student at Pascack Valley High School in 1963 when he first started researching President John F. Kennedy. 

Fifty years later, he has authored his seventh book on JFK — a nearly 32,000-page tome that's so long it's not available in print, just on CD-ROM.

Westwood Hosting Revaluation Presentations For Residents

Westwood will host three presentations explaining theupcoming revaluation process for residents.

Representatives from Appraisal Systems Inc. will explain the process of inspections and appraisals and take questions from residents at 7 p.m. August 14 and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. August 16. All three presentations will take place in the council chambers at the borough municipal building.

Schroeder Stands to Lose Washington Township Home

Embattled Assemblyman RobertSchroeder hasn’t made a mortgage payment in nearly a year and the bank that owns the $600,000 mortgage on his Washington Township home is looking to force him out, according to court documents obtained by northjersey.com.

Lawyers working on behalf of TD Bank filed papers last week seeking relief from a court ordered freeze on Schroeder’s assets. The freeze stems from involuntary bankruptcy proceedings initially filed by three creditors.

Washington Town Center Agent Expects 90 Percent Occupancy

ohn Azarian, the leasing agent for the Washington Town Center, said he expects to soon have the strip mall 90 percent occupied.
