Township Opens Warming Center 24/7 During Cold Weather

The National Weather Service predicted lows of 16 degrees and 24 degrees Wednesday and Thursday night.

Washington Township officials announced Tuesday that the senior center would be available as a warming center for residents during the current cold snap.

Officials released the following message Tuesday night:

"Residents requiring relief from the cold may go to the Jack Woods Senior Center located in the Municipal Complex at 350 Hudson Ave. in the Twp. of Washington.  The facility will be open 24/7 while the temperature remains frigid. Please note, residents will be required to sign in with the police department before entering the senior room."

The National Weather Service predicted that temperatures would rise by the end of the week, but overnight lows could drop to 16 degrees Wednesday night and 24 degrees Thursday night.
