Soldiers Send Thanks, Flag For Girl Scout Cookies

The American Legion and Girl Scouts in Hillsdale sent care packages to U.S. troops based at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, Africa.

U.S. soldiers based at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, Africa recently sent back a flag and an Operation Enduring Freedom certificate to a group of Hillsdale Girl Scouts and American Legionnaires who sent over care packages of donated cookies earlier this year.

"We greatly appreciated and enjoyed its contents," U.S. Navy Commander Greg Vinci wrote to the Scouts and Legionnaires. "We are honored to serve and are forever grateful for the dedicated care and support groups such as yours provide our service men and women."

The flag flew over Camp Lemonnier June 25.

The camp is the primary base of operations in the Horn of Africa region, according to the U.S. Navy's website. They support about 4,000 U.S. and allied military and civilian personnel and contractors.
