Society Men Expands With Society Femme

A Westwood shop long known as a destination for men's clothing and accessories recently expanded to include women's items in a larger space in time for holiday shopping.

Society Men, which MaryAlice Farella opened on Westwood Avenue more than seven years ago, now has a second storefront under the name Society Femme. The new shop carries sportswear, casual wear, dress wear, denim, sleepwear, gifts, jewelry, lingerie, fragrances, furs and accessories, according to Farella. 

"It's been a whirlwind of fun," Farella said. "People have been loving it, they can shop for the entire family in one place."

Farella got her start in the clothing business working in women's items, and she opened Society Men after seeing a void in Westwood for a place for a man to get his "core wardrobe," the things he wears everyday. 

Society Femme expands on that idea for women, with the shop's large variety of items. They carry sizes XXS through XL. The stores are connected inside, so families can go there together or pick up gifts while looking for their own clothes.

Soon, Society Femme will be putting out cruise and resort wear, like cover-ups and swimsuits, for those taking winter vacations to warmer destinations.

The shop is also currently running a fundraiser, selling t-shirts and scarves to benefit the Englewood Hospital and American Cancer Society.
