State Releases School Violence, Vandalism Report

Officials from the New Jersey Department of Education released Thursday the 2012-13 school year Violence, Vandalism and Substance Abuse in the Schools Report.

Hillsdale had 1,332 enrolled students, eight incidents of violence, five incidents of vandalism, zero incidents with weapons or substances and one HIB for a total of 14 incidents.

Pascack Valley Regional had 2,037 enrolled students, four incidents of violence, two incidents of vandalism, one incident with a weapon, 29 incidents with substances and seven HIB for a total of 43 incidents.

Westwood Regional had 2,668 enrolled students, five incidents of violence, one incident of vandalism, two incidents with weapons, five incidents with substances and 27 HIB for a total of 39 incidents.

Across Bergen County, there were 71,018 students with 669 incidents of violence, 111 incidents of vandalism, 67 incidents with weapons, 185 incidents with substances and 402 HIB for a total of 1,400 incidents. No Bergen districts were among the nine most violent in the state.
