State Awards $900K Grant to Pascack Valley Schools

The funding will be used for window projects at both regional high schools and work on the heating system at Pascack Hills.

Pascack Valley Regional Schools will receive $913,443 in funding for several building improvement projects, state officials announced last week.

The grant is expected to cover 40 percent of the costs of window projects at both Pascack Valley and Pascack Hills, as well as improvements to the heating system at Hills, Superintendent P. Erik Gundersen confirmed.

The work is expected to cost a total of $2,283,607, including the state's share.

"We're pleased to receive the funding for those projects," Gundersen said.

District officials had also applied for funding for work on a girls' locker room at Pascack Valley High School, but the project didn't fall under the state's criteria, according to Gundersen.

Officials are already working to include funding for all the projects, including the locker room work, in next year's budget, he said.
