No Drugs Turned Up in Pascack Valley School Searches
Police with dogs searched the schools during an evacuation drill.
Police K-9 units conducted sweeps of Pascack Valley and Pascack Hills High Schools during a planned evacuation drill Friday morning and found no drugs in either school, according to Superintendent P. Erik Gundersen.
The drills were conducted to help maintain a drug-free district that is safe, secure and productive for students, according to Gundersen.
There were 13 incidents of substance abuse in the district between January and June of this year.
"We are reassured that the presence of drugs in our two schools is not an epidemic, but something that we must continue to monitor and combat for the benefit of our students," Gundersen told Patch.
During the drills, students were evacuated to their respective football fields as part of a regular evacuation drill all schools are required to hold.
