Julie Keating Appointed to Westwood Regional School Board

Keating works in education and is a member of the Washington Township Library Board.

The Westwood Regional Board of Education voted to appoint Washington Township resident Julie Keating to an empty board seat during their meeting Thursday night.

Keating is the district test coordinator at Cresskill Public Schools and a former classroom teacher for 15 years. She has two children in college and another who attends Westwood Regional High School.

She is also a member of the Washington Township Library Board and formerly worked for the summer rec program.

"I'm really excited," Keating said. "I look forward to the work here and the challenges ahead."

Keating fills the seat left open after longtime member Barbara Gregory resigned from the board to retire June 30.

Keating will have to defend the seat in the November election. One other township resident, Michael DeSena, has also sought the position.
