Developer Plans to Replace Westwood Home With Condos

An application for the Crest Street property has drawn an objection from a neighboring condominium association.

A developer has proposed to replace a Westwood house with five two-bedroom condos, but a neighboring condominium association is objecting to the plan.

John Ferrara, of River Vale, applied to the Westwood Zoning Board for his plan to demolish the existing single-family home on Crest Street and build a new five-unit condo building in its place.

The property is located on the cul-de-sac at the end of Crest Street, behind Burke's and near the Westwood Cemetery.

The plan is being opposed by the Westwood Manor Association, whose property borders the house on three sides. Their attorney, Ethan Addes, could not immediately be reached for comment.

Currently, the house takes up 1,076 square feet of the 7,634-square-foot lot. The proposed building would have a 5,806-square-foot footprint and would stand more than 32 feet and three stories tall. The developer has requested a variance for the existing non-conforming lot size in the R3 zone.

The Westwood Zoning Board will next meet December 2.
