Westwood Parking Authority Revenue Up in 2013

Councilman Ray Arroyo said he believed the increase was a sign that shoppers and diners were not deterred by ongoing roadwork in downtown Westwood.

The Westwood Parking Authority collected about $178,000 in revenue during 2013, Councilman Ray Arroyo said Monday.

That figure represented a 2.2 percent increase from 2012, despite concerns from some officials and business owners that the ongoing roadwork along Broadway and elsewhere might deter some from visiting downtown Westwood.

"That's a positive sign the Central Business District is still a viable destination despite the inconvenience," Arroyo said.
