Ongoing work for a project designed to ease traffic congestion in downtown Westwood is going to again close Washington Avenue at the intersection of Broadway starting September 23.
The intersection is scheduled to remain closed through September 29.
The project has involved widening streets to add new turning lanes so drivers will be able to continue straight along Broadway when trains block intersections and installing new signals.
Work has closed the intersections of Irvington Street, First Avenue and Washington Avenue at Broadway and Broadway at Irvington during different times and the project is nearing completion. It was delayed by the discovery of underground utilities that were not known to be there and the wait for a custom-made gate, officials previously said.
