Township Shredding, Recycling Event Saturday

The county is also collecting computers and electronics for recycling.

Washington Township residents with sensitive documents or old electronics can dispose of them safely this weekend.

The township is hosting a shredding and electronic recycling event Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the municipal complex. They are accepting a variety of items, including computers, phones and TVs, but no appliances with Freon. The complete list of accepted items is on the township's website.

The Bergen County Utilities Authority is also hosting a shredding, electronics and tire recycling event at Campgaw Mountian Reservation in Mahwah Saturday. Any county resident will be able to drop off items between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The documents could include old tax forms, banking statements or bills. Keep in mind that newspapers, magazines and books will not be accepted. Shredding will be limited to four bags per resident and each bag cannot exceed 10 pounds.

Up to four tires, with or without rims, will be accepted.

This event will only collect personal items; no corporate or business waste will be accepted.
