Schroeder Stands to Lose Washington Township Home

TD Bank filed to lift a court ordered freeze on the state assemblyman's assets last week, according to a media report.

Embattled Assemblyman Robert Schroeder hasn’t made a mortgage payment in nearly a year and the bank that owns the $600,000 mortgage on his Washington Township home is looking to force him out, according to court documents obtained by northjersey.com.

Lawyers working on behalf of TD Bank filed papers last week seeking relief from a court ordered freeze on Schroeder’s assets. The freeze stems from involuntary bankruptcy proceedings initially filed by three creditors.

Judge Novalyn Winfield will consider the issue in U.S. Bankruptcy Court on Aug. 26, according to northjersey.com

The assemblyman, already facing bankruptcy and criminal charges, could lose his Cleveland Avenue home if Winfield decides to lift the automatic stay imposed in March, according to the report.

Schroeder is due back in Somerset Superior Court August 16 for continuation of the criminal case.
