Members of the Washington Township Council picked new Councilman Tom Sears as their 2014 president and Councilman Peter Calamari as their vice president during the annual reorganization meeting Monday night.

"My goal is to make this town whole, to bring solidarity," Sears said.

Both Calamari and Sears were elected to their first term on the council in November.

Mayor Janet Sobkowicz, who took her oath of office along with Calamari and Sears January 1, thanked the township's volunteers and employees.

"A lot has been accomplished in the Township of Washington in these four years," she said.

Officials' first task of the year will be working on the 2014 budget, according to Sobkowicz.

"Even though the cell tower is in, we have a lot of work to do," she said.

Beckmeyer is a vert decent man. I could have sworn I saw Cascio mentioned, but it must've my eyes playing games on me. Regarding my ability to speak my mind, I think I will speak it when and where I want to without your explicit authorization. Caprice?

Pete M What difference does it make. I free up in the Township. I served on the first volunteer ambulance corp youth squad and later the senior corp, I played little league, minor league, and Babe Ruth baseball here. Delivered medicine to residents when I worked at Wildridge pharmacy when George and Ralph still owned it. My mom lived here until her passing last January and my sister is Mayor. I still very much care about this town. I was 5 years old when my parents moved here. So don't you dare to insinuate that since I don't live here I can not care about this town. You sir, are the joke of this town, not me!

Pete M By the way in terms of "since I was 5 years old", I am now 62 years old". So I kind of outrank you in terms of roots in this town!
