John MacEwen Joins Hillsdale Council

MacEwen is the second councilman appointed this summer.

John MacEwen took his oath of office and officially joined the Hillsdale Council as its newest member during their meeting Tuesday night.

MacEwen has lived in Hillsdale for 11 years. He is an Eagle Scout and formerly volunteered as an EMT in Norwood. The council seat is his first government position.

The council approved MacEwen at their previous meeting after former . She had also been appointed to the council this year to replace Jonathan DeJoseph, who left the seat to become the borough's new administrator.

MacEwen is the second member appointed to the council this summer. in June after former Councilman Rod Capawana resigned.

Like Pizzella, MacEwen was chosen from a pool of candidates supplied by the Bergen County Republican Organization because the former members they replaced were also Republicans.

Mayor Max Arnowitz and the other council members welcomed MacEwen during their meeting Tuesday.

"I appreciate all the work you're going to do in advance," Arnowitz said.
