Hillsdale Borough Administrator DeJoseph Resigns

Jon DeJoseph's last day as administrator was Tuesday. He will continue to serve as CFO through January to work on the borough's temporary budget.

Hillsdale borough administrator Jon DeJoseph resigned during a special council meeting Monday, several borough officials confirmed. His final day in the position was Tuesday.

DeJoseph will continue to work as borough CFO through January to work on the temporary budget and will receive several payments from the borough as part of an agreement for his resignation.

DeJoseph said he could not comment on the terms of the agreement.

Council President Tom Kelley also said he couldn't comment on the agreement.

Mayor Max Arnowitz also declined to comment on the agreement, but said he believed DeJoseph had done a good job as administrator, winning grants for projects like road repaving and improvements to borough hall. DeJoseph also was responsible for obtaining a piece of steel from the World Trade Center which was included in the new 9/11 memorial in Veterans Park, Arnowitz said.

"I think Jon DeJoseph did an excellent job as administrator," Arnowitz said. "He accomplished a lot of things."

DeJosph was first appointed administrator in early 2012, Community Life reported at the time. He had previously served on the council before taking the position.

Kelley said he expected officials would discuss their search for a new administrator at the reorganization meeting, which will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday in borough hall.
