Bergen County residents can now enjoy a gourmet meal while playing Frisbee or going for a walk in a county park.
According to a NorthJersey.com report, the New Jersey Food Trucks Association and Bergen County have agreed to a deal that allows food trucks to set up shop inside county parks. The deal has been a tough one to negotiate thanks to local zoning laws that don’t specifically address mobile food vendors, the report said.
A kick-off event Sunday saw food trucks at Overpeck County Park and Orchard Hills Golf Course and Van Saun Park, the report said.
The deal has the Association paying the county $200 per location per month for vendors to set up at county parks, the report said.
Though residents can not yet expect to see food trucks at the parks everyday, organizers of the deal say they hope the agreement will lead to a rotating line-up of 20 or so trucks visiting parks throughout Bergen County.
