Assemblyman Schroeder Files to Have Indictment Dismissed

Robert Schroeder was indicted last year on charges that he allegedly stole money from investors and wrote bad checks for loans payments.

Assemblyman Robert Schroeder filed a motion last week to have the indictment made against him by a grand jury last year dismissed, the Star-Ledger reported.

Schroeder was indicted in December on charges that he allegedly stole $1.8 million and wrote bad checks valued at more than $3.4 million for loan payments.

Schroeder filed several pre-trial motions, including one to have the indictment dismissed because "parts of the three-count indictment improperly aggregate the alleged offenses," according to the Star-Ledger report.

Schroeder was offered a plea deal earlier this year, which would have sent him to state prison for five years. He declined the deal and pleaded not guilty, with an attorney noting that they planned a “substantial filing” of motions.
