Truck Hits Ice, Rolls Off GSP in Washington Township

Washington Township police officers pulled the man from the truck.

A pair of Washington Township police officers pulled a man from his pickup truck after it slid off the Garden State Parkway and rolled onto its side Monday morning, according to Police Officer Heather Castronova.

The driver hit a patch of ice as he was pulling onto the highway at about 7:30 a.m., causing his truck to slide and roll into a water-filled ditch on the side of the road, Castronova said.

Township Police Capt. Glen Hooper and Police Officer Jason Gugger responded to the scene and pulled the soaking-wet man from the truck. State police and the Washington Township Ambulance Corps also responded, but the driver refused medical attention, Castronova said.
