A suspect wanted for allegedly breaking into a Westwood apartment Thursday morning was arrested in Orangetown, N.Y., according to Westwood Police Chief Frank Regino.

Police received a call from a woman after 10:30 a.m. Thursday saying that a man had broken into her Westwood Avenue apartment. The man had apparently broken a window on the street entrance of the building and then kicked in the door of the woman's apartment, Regino said.

The man, 49-year-old Robert Driscoll of Spring Valley, N.Y., was apparently an acquaintance of the woman and may have been her boyfriend.

Witnesses said Driscoll fled the scene down Center Avenue and police in Pascack Valley towns were alerted to look for a white Lincoln Town Car headed north.

Driscoll was charged with third degree burglary, assault and criminal mischief. Bail was set in Orangetown at $25,000 with no 10 percent option. Westwood Police were still working on having Driscoll brought back to New Jersey Thursday afternoon, according to Regino.

The Westwood Ambulance Corps also responded to the scene. Regino said the woman was shaken up but refused hospitalization.
