Police Accepting Old Prescription Drugs

Westwood, Hillsdale and Washington Township Police are all participating in Operation Take Back October 26.

Police in Westwood, Hillsdale and Washington Township will be accepting residents' expired, unused or otherwise unneeded prescription drugs as part of the DEA's Operation Take Back October 26.

The program is intended to prevent pill abuse and theft, which can lead to accidental poisonings and overdoses, according to police.

Throwing unwanted medicine away or flushing it also presents problems if the drugs leak into the ground or water supply.

Residents will be able to drop off medication from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 26 at the Westwood Police Department on Washington Avenue, the Hillsdale Police Department on Hillsdale Avenue and the Washington Township Police Department on Hudson Avenue, no questions asked.
