Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Collision With Bus [UPDATE]

61-year-old bus driver Eugenio Jimenez was being issued summonses for the incident, according to Westwood Police.

A motorcyclist from Emerson was seriously injured after he hit a bus on Old Hook Road Tuesday afternoon, according to Westwood Police Chief Frank Regino.

The motorcyclist, 50-year-old Michael Cullen, was driving westbound when he hit the rear bumper of a bus that was pulling out the the Rockland Coaches bus depot at about 3 p.m. He suffered serious injuries to his left leg, Regino said. 

A medevac helicopter flew the motorcyclist from HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley, which is located next to the bus depot, to HackensackUMC in Hackensack. Updated information about the man's condition was not yet available Wednesday morning.

The accident was investigated by members of the Fatal Accident Investigation Unit of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. Westwood and Emerson police, as well as the Hillsdale Ambulance Corps, also responded.

As of Wednesday morning, 61-year-old bus driver Eugenio Jimenez was being issued summonses, according to a press release from Westwood Police.

The investigation continued for hours at the scene and traffic was diverted until almost 8:30 p.m., Regino said.
