Hillsdale Man Charged in Graffiti Incidents

Police said Bernabe Trujilio spray painted his signature on five buildings.

A 25-year-old Hillsdale resident was charged with criminal mischief for a string of spray painted tags he allegedly left on borough buildings, according to police.

Bernabe Trujilio allegedly painted his signature on five buildings early Saturday morning, according to Hillsdale Police Officer William Diedtrich. Police caught Trujilio after Officer Anthony Lache deciphered the signature and Sgt. Sean Smith and Officer Liz Zimmerman spotted him later that afternoon on Washington Avenue.

The graffiti caused several thousand dollars worth of damage, according to Diedtrich.

After Trujilio was charged, police turned him over to the Woodcliff Lake Police Department for questioning about another incident there.
