Heavy Storm Causes Road Flooding

2.5 inches of rain fell in about two hours.

Rain from a thunderstorm caused several roads in Hillsdale and Westwood to flood Thursday evening.

About 2.5 inches of rain fell in Hillsdale between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., according to police. Officers blocked Hillsdale Avenue near Wilkes Deli and some side streets.

Water in the Woodcliff Lake Reservoir rose about 1.5 feet to elevation 1.5 as of 9 p.m. In the Pascack Brook, water had risen less than a foot and appeared unlikely to rise above its banks.

PSE&G reported some power outages in Washington Township caused by the storm.
