Bergen County Teen Accused of Stabbing Sister to Death will be Tried as Adult

Washington Township teen allegedly stabbed his sister in his family's home the day after Christmas last year, report says.

According to the report, the judge decided the defendant Travis Gallo satisfied the two conditions necessary to transfer the case to juvenile court – being at least 16 at the time of the crime, and there being probable cause that he committed the crime.

Gallo, who was 17 at the time of the crime and is now 18, allegedly stabbed his sister multiple times in his family’s split-level home the day after Christmas last year, the report said.

Teia Gallo, a junior at Dominican College in Orangeburg, N.Y., died that evening, it said.

The two and their sister were adopted as babies into the Gallo family, who had nine biological children, the report said.

Travis Gallo was a special ed student and senior at Westwood Regional High School. According to the report, he had stopped attending school due to bullying.
