Attend the Township Car and Motorcycle Show Sunday

The 16th annual fire department event will feature custom antique cars and motorcycles

Custom antique cars and motorcycles will be on display at Sunday as part of the .

This will be the 16th time the hosts the successful community event. According to Jeff Siconolfi, a group of firemen who were car enthusiasts wanted to get together with their vehicles. From there, it grew into a community-wide event where people can showcase their cars and motorcycles.

"We average about 120 entries and several hundred spectators come out to enjoy a day of music, food and a tremendous array of classic, antique, vintage, stock, modified cars and motorcycles," Siconolfi said.

He said the department plans to give out more than 50 awards to entrants Sunday.

In addition to looking at the vehicles, attendees will be able to buy items from vendors at the show, including toy cars, T-shirts, personalized license plates and car care products. The fire department will also be selling refreshments, including hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, chips and soft drinks.

Siconolfi said the event wouldn't be possible without Car Show Committee Chairman Roy Scherer, who he said "spends an enormous amount of time organizing this event. He is the engine that keeps this show going."

In addition to the organizers, the fire department gets sponsors to help fund the show. "The Major Sponsors for this year's show are , A Macchione Brothers, , and ," Siconolfi said.

Siconolfi encourages everyone to attend the event. "Bring the family out and enjoy a day of music, food, fun and being a part of the community," he said.

The car and motorcycle show will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Westwood Jr./Sr. High School, 701 Ridgewood Road, Washington Township. The cost is $5 per person for adults and children under 12 are free. The rain date for the event is June 26. For additional information, visit the fire department website.
