Westwood Church Hosting 'Sole Hope' For Africa

Parkside Community Church is hoping Sole Hope gather materials for shoes.

Parkside Community Church will host a shoe cutting event for the charity Sole Hope Saturday evening.

Sole Hope is a group which gathers the materials for shoes, ships them to Africa for assembly to provide jobs to locals and then distributes them to help protect people from sand fleas, parasites which can lay eggs in bare feet.

All people need to protect them from sand fleas is closed-toe shoes, according to the group.

Sole Hope is seeking denim fabric (old jeans), permanent markers, empty plastic milk jugs, gallon size Ziploc bags and cash donations of $10 per kit.

The event will take place at the church from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. People can also drop off donations at New Jersey Foot and Ankle Center, 550 Kinderkamack Rd. Suite 202 in Oradell until the event.
