Friends, Neighbors Organize Help For Woman Struck by Car

Ruta Fiorino was hospitalized last week after she was hit by a car in Westwood.

Local residents have come together to provide support to Ruta Fiorino, a Hillsdale mom who was hit by a car outside the Westwood Trader Joe's last week.

While Fiorino was hospitalized, friends and neighbors got to work, organizing meals, collecting donations and offering positive thoughts and prayers via the "Rooting for Ruta" Facebook page.

That page gained more than 800 "likes" within a day of its creation and, as of publication of this article, has 1,137.

The creators of that page could not immediately be reached for comment, but friends of Fiorino said they weren't surprised at the outpouring of support — she's always been there to help out when someone else needed it.

Anyone who wants to help out can send cash or checks made out to cash to: Meadowbrook School C/O Jenn Quevedo, 50 Piermont Ave., Hillsdale, NJ 07642. For more updates or details on the meal schedule, check out the Rooting for Ruta Facebook page.
