Emergency response dives are executed using equipment from the back of a truck with very short notice. These factors dramatically reduce the potential support structure. That's not to say the Emergency Response Diver is a better, or more enduring diver. We just need to be clear that dive and land based training should match the requirements of the job…
Alone and attached to a tether, the Emergency Response Diver must be comfortable diving in zero visibility conditions constantly avoiding or dealing with entanglements while searching for a specific object. The Emergency Response Diver must be able to search, locate, document and recover objects as the dive mission dictates.
