People's Petition for Elephants - Launch Event

One elephant is killed every 15 minutes for their tusks to support the global trade in ivory.  At this rate, they will be gone from the wild by 2025.  A growing people's movement FOR elephants is poised to launch a WhiteHouse.gov petition on May 1 that calls for the complete end of ALL ivory trade in the United States of America.

Twenty-five states are currently engaged in the success of the petition. The petition will send the urgent message to President Obama and to our congressional leaders that - we the people - want to end all ivory trade and to put it to the history books forever.  Our message is simple: elephants have value, not ivory.

To learn more about elephants, ivory, and the upcoming White House petition, Elephants NJ is hosting an informational event at the Westwood Public Library, 49 Park Avenue, Westwood, NJ, on Thursday, May 1 at 6:30pm.   The National Geographic PBS documentary film, Battle for the Elephants, will be featured, followed by a short video message from Dr. Jane Goodall and Dr. Iain Douglas-Hamilton.
