New Councilman Interviews, School Board Meetings This Week

Here's a look at the week ahead in Westwood, Hillsdale and Washington Township.

Hillsdale may have a new councilman this week.

Borough officials have scheduled a special meeting for Thursday at which they will interview the three candidates for an open seat on the council in closed session.

The candidates are former Councilmen Anthony DeRosa and Frank Pizzella and local business owner Frank D'Amico. The three men were nominated for the position by the Bergen County Republican Organization after Michael Giancarlo resigned from the seat at the end of December.

Four Democrats were elected to the council in November. Giancarlo, a Republican, previously said he wanted to wait for the new officials to take their seats before he resigned so they could choose the new member.

The special meeting will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday in Borough Hall.
