Harmony Tea Room Moves, Grows in Downtown Westwood

The restaurant serves traditional afternoon tea and Sunday brunch.

Westwood's Harmony Tea Room moved around the corner from their old location on Bergen Street to a new, larger space on Fairview Avenue in November.

The restaurant still serves traditional afternoon tea and Sunday brunch. They now offer about 30 varieties of tea, including a mix of standards and rotating seasonal options.

They also have a full food menu of items like finger sandwiches, soups, salads, scones and sweets which are all homemade on the premises. They've also added a selection of full-size sandwiches and a new takeout menu.

"A lot of times when you say 'tea room' to people, they don't really get it," owner Mary Ann Bassett said. "They think you don't serve food."

The food is one of the highlights, according to reviews on teamap.com, which is exactly what it sounds like. The website has ranked Harmony as the seventh best tea room in New Jersey.

Harmony is all about taking a little time out for from the hectic day-to-day and finding some spiritual balance, Bassett said.

"It's not just for special occasions, she said. "You can make every day special by coming to the tea room."

The move, just off busy Westwood Avenue, has helped draw more business to the restaurant, Bassett said. They recommend diners call ahead to make reservations.

"We've definitely picked up some new people that didn't know we were there before," she said.

Harmony Tea Room is located at 224 Fairview Ave., Westwood.
