Pascack Valley Schools Create Guidance Advisory Council

The new group is designed to increase communication between guidance staff and parents.

A new group designed to increase communication between Pascack Valley Regional Schools' guidance counselors and district parents is expected to hold its first meeting next month.

The new Guidance Advisory Council will include about 12 students, parents, teachers, counselors, administrators, board of education members and community members. They will make recommendations to guidance staff with the goal of increasing communication and giving parents a channel for their feedback as part of a larger attempt in the schools' guidance department to enhance the services they provide, according to Superintendent P. Erik Gundersen.

"I'm sure this is going to be a positive," Gundersen said.

The council is expected to hold their first meeting next month and regularly meet three times per year. They will work similarly to the different subcommittees of the school board, according to Gundersen.
