Westwood Resident's Award-Winning Play Showing in Brooklyn

Playwright Jonathon Goldberg's "Sousepaw: A Baseball Story" will hold its New York premiere at Frost Space next month.

A play written by a Westwood resident and named “Best of Fringe” at the 2011 San Francisco Fringe Festival will open in Brooklyn next month.

"Sousepaw: A Baseball Story" was written by Westwood resident Jonathan A. Goldberg. The show has earned positive reviews from numerous publications in addition to the Fringe award. It will open at Frost Space in Brooklyn October 9 and run through November 2.

The play is loosely based on the true story of lefty Major League pitcher Rube Waddell, whose career was challenged by his eccentric personality and alcoholism. "Sousepaw" deals with the relationship between Waddell and a "reptile girl" he hires from a circus to help him control his drinking problem.

"Sousepaw" will show from Wednesday to Saturday at 8 p.m. from October 9 to November 2 at Frost Space, 17 Frost St., Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Tickets cost $18 or $15 for students and seniors. They can be purchased online here.
