Westwood UNICO Offers Scholarships to H.S. & College Students

The Westwood Chapter of UNICO is once again offering three $1,000.00 scholarships for 2014. 

The first scholarship we are offering is the Fred DiRossi Memorial Scholarship, in memory of Fred DiRossi, a beloved former member and resident of Washington Township. This scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors in any major, limited to students of Italian descent. (Parent or Grandparent). 

The second scholarship is the Marie Hanlon Scholarship in memory of Josephine Cifelli, mother of Marie Hanlon, cherished member and resident of Hillsdale.  This scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors, current undergraduate students or graduate students pursuing a degree in education. This scholarship is also limited to students of Italian descent (Parent or Grandparent).

The final scholarship being offered is the Ben & Marie Miraglia Nursing Scholarship, in memory of Ben & Marie Miraglia former cherished members and former residents of Washington Township.  This scholarship is offered to graduating seniors, undergraduate students or graduate students pursuing a degree in nursing.  Special consideration will be given to those specializing in nephrology.  This is open to all regardless of nationality. 

Applicants must be from the Pascack Valley area. (Westwood, Hillsdale, Washington Township,  River Vale, Emerson, & Old Tappan)

Applications for these Scholarships should be available from your high school guidance dept. or by emailing a request to my attention. Ask for the Westwood UNICO Scholarship application. Indicate on the application for which scholarship you are applying. 

The application deadline is April 15.

 In all cases special consideration will be given to those who exhibit extraordinary generosity and/or community involvement as well as financial need.
