Mozart To Monet: A Musical Art Experience For Kids!

Nothing beats the winter blues more than beautiful art and inspiring music. Come join Mozart to Monet at Bookends and Sweet & Sassy in Ridgewood for a musical art experience starting November 19, 2013. Mention MACARONI KID and get $20 off your Winter Session!

Mozart to Monet was created by local mom Louise Buzzelli. (Click here for more information about her). Mozart to Monet offers a unique opportunity for children ages 1 through 9 to develop an appreciation for the arts by hearing live music, experimenting with kid-sized musical instruments, learning about famous artists, and exploring different media week after week. Four classes will be offered on Tuesdays starting November 19:

AT BOOKENDS:

Meet The Instruments (1-2 Years and 3-4 Years)

How much fun would it be at 1, 2, or 3 years old to believe that you can play the violin? Mozart to Monet's Meet the Instruments music class gives children the opportunity to observe, listen and experiment with their own miniature version of classical instruments of the orchestra, as well as folk instruments such as guitar, accordion and harmonica. Each class is led by a music teacher and accompanied by a LIVE pianist! Special guest musicians also come to introduce the violin, flute, clarinet, guitar, French horn to students.

Make-Believe Melodies & Masterpiece (2-4 Years)

Make-believe is a wonderful thing! In the fun-filled Make-Believe Melodies & Masterpiece class, children ages 2-4 are introduced to music, art and stories each week. They’ll start by meeting Lola, a friendly French Bulldog who loves Ballet, Opera & Art. After story-time and book discussion, kids move into the “Land of Make Believe”, where children will listen to Classical, Opera, even a little Jazz or Bob Marley. They may do a few pliés & dance around, or march in a parade and be Wild Things while accompanied by LIVE piano, flute or guitar music. Children will then start their Art Project based on the Story of the Day.

AT SWEET & SASSY:

Monet's Messy Art & Music (3-5 Years) and Mozart To Monet (6-9 Years)

Children love all forms of art and they benefit from early exposure to the arts. Monet's Messy Art and Music class will introduce preschoolers to famous artists, and then they make their own piece of art while listening to Live Piano & prerecorded music of the time. The class covers the great works of Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso and Jackson Pollock, and perhaps a little Opera, in a fun & kid friendly environment that will give your child an early appreciation for Fine Art. Children will love creating collages, paintings, drawings and using many messy mediums like shaving cream & paint, glue, paper, feathers, clay, you name it, to make their own Masterpiece!

The Mozart to Monet class for ages 6 to 9 years old combines art and the musical movements of the time to fully immerse children in all the Arts have to offer. Mozart to Monet's Piano player will play the music of a specific time period while children imagine themselves in the shoes of great artists. They may pretend to stand on a balcony painting “Starry Night” alongside Vincent Van Gogh, while listening to French musician Claude Debussy or Ravel! Each week children focus on a different artist and explore their world.

All classes start Tuesday, November 19. Bookends is located at 211 E. Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood, and Sweet & Sassy is located at 216 E. Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood.
