Westwood School Board Votes Thursday on Improvement Funding

The Westwood Regional Board of Education meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the high school.

Westwood Regional school officials are scheduled to vote on several resolutions accepting state grants and agreeing to fund the local portion of school improvement projects during their meeting Thursday night.

State officials offered grants to the district for five projects — repairing the high school facade and roofs at five schools — totaling $2,473,745.

The state's funding will cover about 40 percent of the projects, so the district will be responsible for the remaining 60 percent, including  $1,773,954 for the high school facade, $1,656,091 for the high school roof, $81,684 for the middle school roof,  $125,448 for the George School roof and $73,440 for the Brookside roof.

Interim Superintendent James Sheerin previously told Patch that the funding was available in the district's capital reserve budget, so they won't need to seek the money from taxpayers.

The school board meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the high school. The agenda can be downloaded here.
