'Golden Orchards' Development Hearing Wednesday

The Hillsdale Planning Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

An application for an age-restricted housing development on the border of Hillsdale and Washington Township is scheduled to continue its next hearing at the Hillsdale Planning Board Wednesday.

Caliber Builders plans to build a 37-unit development off Ell Road and needs final site plan approval from the board. Their application was approved in 2008, but the objecting Northgate Condominium Association appealed the decision in court. The state Supreme Court sided with the board and Caliber this summer, sending the issue back to Hillsdale.

Northgate is continuing their objection to the plan. Their attorney said during the last hearing that the board should require the applicant to seek an amended approval because of changes made to the plan since the 2008 approval.

The board will likely need to hear testimony from the applicant's and objector's engineers to decide if an amended approval will be required.

The Hillsdale Planning Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in borough hall. The agenda is available here.
