Westwood Dad's Dash
The Inaugural running of The Westwood Dad's Dash is planned for Father's Day, Sunday, June 17 beginning at 8:45 a.m. in Westvale Park, Westwood, N.J. This 5K race and family mile walk will be held to support the Sgt. Christopher Hrbek Scholarship Fund.
On January 14, 2010, our community lost a hero. Christopher Hrbek was a 2002 graduate of Westwood High School whose desire to serve his community, helped him to achieve his goal of becoming a United States Marine. The Sgt. Christopher Hrbek Scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating student at Westwood High School who demonstrates a commitment to pursuing a career involving service to others. The Fund is a 501c3 non-profit organization.
This USATF-NJ sanctioned race promises to be a terrific community event, beginning with a tribute to armed forces, the 5K Run & Family Mile and concluding with a Father's Day barbeque and awards ceremony. Race amenities include commemorative t-shirts, DJ, refreshments and computer scored race results. Awards include top emergency services teams, top father and son/daughter teams and top Westwood finishers.

More About Westvale Park
Westvale Park has a baseball and softball field where the Westwood Wolverines play. There is a parking lot and a walking path available for residents. A four- to six-month renovation project began in June 2010 to upgrade the site's existing facilities and add lighting to the fields and pathway.
