I love this place, if you can't tell by my review. Best place around. Coming in for another one of your bacon cheese burgers soon! This place needs to be on 'Diners Drive-Ins and Dives'. "NOM NOM NOM NOM" -Derek

What Derek said. I love this place too, I only wish my husband did.

@-B@B: Everytime I eat here I want to try different stuff off the menu (it's so hard to choose). Do you have any suggestions, I will be heading over later this week for dinner and would love to know your favorite choice? I am addicted to the bacon cheese burgers (as mentioned) & also the cheesesteak & fries. But I heard good things about the salads, any thoughts? -Derek

@-B@B: Also if you have a chance, since we seem to have the same taste in food; could you give me some more local eatery recommendations? I am new to the area & would love some more places to try. -Derek

First of all, welcome to town, Derek! I can barely polish off a plain cheeseburger, let alone the bacon cheese. The clam strips are great, as are the onion rings. My DH finds the atmosphere too raucous, but I find it to be "local color." :-) Maybe in a past life I was a biker chick and he was a banker. ;-)

Other favorite local eateries: For Indian: Kailash in Ridgewood for dinner; Sitar Palace in Orangeburg, NY just over the border for weekend lunch bargain. For Greek, we like Gyros and Goodies right in the strip mall. Good fast Greek food, very nice people who deserve our support. For more elaborate Greek food and wider choice, Taste of Greece in Oradell is great too, but go for sit-down, not take out because they can't seem to time the orders. Toros in New Milford is great for Turkish food. Right near there is Garden Cafe, which has decent sandwiches and such but the nicest outdoor seating in the area that won't set you back an arm and a leg. (Best is at the Porter House in Montvale, which also has a GREAT craft beer selection -- try some Arrogant Bastard Ale -- but the food there is so-so and it's EXPENSIVE). More in next post...

Mezze in Westwood is good Mediterranean but pricey for what it is. For diner and comfort food, the Tom Sawyer in Paramus is very good. A bit pricey for a diner, but good quality food and the second best fries in the area (Dog House has the best). For great barbecue, go up to Pearl River to Johnny's Smokehouse. The best 'cue master in the area, Dave Finkelstein, cooks up there.

For red sauce Italian and pizza, Anthony Franco's in Paramus (on Route 17, but you can get there through the back of JoAnn Fabrics by Paramus Park Mall) is hands-down the absolute best.

For Chinese take-out, Wing Lee is really quite good. For Chinese buffet, if you want a pig-out, go to Grand Buffet up in Ramsey on Route 17.

I think that ought to get you started. :-)
